Prof Oguntunde’s research works have become focal points in providing indepth understanding of field to large scale water balance and crop water use srateggies that lead to reduction in rainfall-runoff, errosion and soil evaporation leading to optimal use of green water that reduces the risk of crop failure. He has contributed to the development of mini-disk infiltrometer, runoff meter, tree load meter, drip emitters and automated pan evaporimeter, which are simple but low-cost technologies for measurement of state variables to improve the environmental conditions for enhanced crop productivity. His pioneering studies on ecohydrology and climate change in West Africa are mainly focus on catchment hydrology to complement farming system research using innovative and adaptable procedures with sound theoretical concepts. Land uses cum water resources research were designed to lead to enhancement of sustainable environment and hence quality of life. He has graduated 18 MSc and 15 PhDs and authored or co-authored over 120 scientific articles mostly in reputable journals. He has h-index of 27 and 3,636 citations in Google Scholar. He has contributed immensely to the development of teaching and learning including management of higher Education in Nigeria and research capacity building across West Africa.
