CITATION OF ODUNAYO CLEMENT ADEBOOYE
Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye specializes in Plant Physiology with applications to Food Chemistry. Currently, he serves as Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Osogbo, and President of the African-German Network of Excellence in Science (AGNES) of the Government of Germany. Adebooye has authored or co-authored approximately 120 research articles and secured 29 international research grants along with about 100 travel grants. His scholarly contributions include participation in over 100 international conferences across 61 countries.
Adebooye previously held positions as Ambassador Scientist in Nigeria for the German Government’s Humboldt Foundation and Regional Project Coordinator for the Government Canada-funded projects in West Africa (2011-2020). Additionally, he served as Secretary-General and Governing Board member of AGNES (2016-2021).
He has utilized nine (9) fully funded international research fellowships. He holds the distinguished fellowship of international organizations including, Fellow, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation; Fellow, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Fellow, United Nations University (UNU). He is also a Fellow of Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON). Notably, in 2009, he became the first Nigerian recipient of the Humboldt Alumni Award from the German Government’s Humboldt Foundation. He also won the best presentation awards at the under-utilized plants conferences in Karachi, Pakistan (2001), and at the Central Food Technological Research Institute, India (2006).
Between 2011 and 2020, his research funding supported 19 MSc and 15 PhD candidates from Nigeria, Benin Republic, and Canada, and sponsored ten UNIOSUN lecturers for training at Canadian universities. He secured German Government funding for postdoctoral projects of 11 Nigerian lecturers (2015-2020) and supervised them, and fully funded attendance for 13 Nigerian lecturers at conferences in Rwanda, Benin, Canada, Ethiopia, Kenya, and the USA. In November 2021, Adebooye sponsored 251 scholars to participate in the German Government’s Humboldt International Conference.
