Professor C.S. Nworu graduated as the best student in the faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in the 1998/1999 academic session. He obtained an M. Pharm degree in 2002 with a perfect CGPA of 5.0/5.0 and subsequently earned a PHD in Immunopharmacology in 2007. His research focuses on exploiting natural defence mechanisms against infectious diseases, with particular interest in natural immunomodulators as adjuvants to vaccines and antimicrobial therapies. Prof. Nworu has contributed significantly to drug discovery, having identified, isolated, and characterized over 45 novel and known bioactive compounds from natural sources. These compounds exhibit diverse therapeutic potentials, including antiviral, anticancer, antimalarial, antidiabetic, and immunoregulatory activities. Prof. Nworu’s postdoctoral research was as prestigious universities: the Ruhr- Universitat Bochum, Germany, and the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. As a postdoctoral fellow, he worked on cyclotides, CTX proteins and oligonucleotides fragments as adjuvants for genetics and virus- like particle subunit vaccines. Nworu has gained recognition for his outstanding research and academic excellence, earning numerous local and international accolades. Hia awards and scholarships include, but not limited to, the Alexander von Homboldt Foundation ‘s postdoctoral Fellowship and the prestigious Fullbright Research Award. As a distinguished scholar, Prof Nworu has authored over 125researched papers, primarily in reputable high-impact journals, His published works have achieved an H-index of 35 and an i10-index of 83, with more than 3,330 Google Scholar citations. Since 2008, he has successfully supervised 39 postgraduate students pursuing both Master’s and PHD degrees. He served as the HOD of Pharmacology and Toxicology: Associate Dean, Dean of Faculty pf Pharmacy: and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Olivia University Bujumbura) at various times. Prof C.S. Nworu was once a member of the TETFund National Reasearch Fund Screening and Monitoring Committee and served on the planning and implementation Committee of Margaret Lawrence University, Galilee, Delta State.
