Emmanuel Enyioma Anyanwu is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, and a COREN registered engineer. He has a long and distinguished career, spanning over 36 years of contributions as teacher, researcher, author, and administrator, and through community services. He served, at various times, as Head, Mechanical Engineering Department: Dean, Student Affairs: Dean, School of Engineering, including pioneering establishment of Engineering Faculty at Abia State University: member, 9th FUTO Governing Council, and several University Committees, and universities accreditation and visitation panels. Prof. Anyanwu as mentored 21 phD graduates to date.
Prof. Anyanwu’s research accomplishments are in applied energy, in which he has made seminal contributions to a board range of areas including energy powered systems, particularly pioneering solid adsorption solar refrigerator development int the country, compressed natural gas as transport fuel, depleted crude oil reservoirs as underground natural gas storage, metamaterials with novel optical and electromagnetic properties as innovative spectral selective solar collector/radiator surface coating. He has also undertaken significant research on waste management to produce energy and fertilizer and overall contributed to shaping energy research and policies at national and international levels. Prof Anyanwu has published over 150 scientific papers, including two patents, 124 articles in archival journals, three books, and five book chapters, all of which have so far attracted 1797 citations, 20 h-index and 35 i10-index.
He is a Fellow of the: Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN), Renewable and Alternative Energy Society of Nigeria, among others and member American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) etc. and associate editor of Advances in science and technologies and its editorial board member. His honors includes ASME Best paper Award for outstanding paper (2005), NSE Owerri branch Distinguished Engineer Award for Outstanding Professional Contributions (2015): FUTO Academic Excellence Award (2015).
