Prof. Martins Emeje

Martins Emeje is a Professor and Pharmaceutical R&D Expert with PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology & Industrial Pharmacy from UNN, where he received the best PhD award. He had post-doctoral training at Tezpur University and National Chemical Laboratory, India, and he is a graduate of project management from Walden University, USA. Prof. Emeje has over 140 publications, nine (9) patents, 18 trademarks and the first herbal trimodal supportive therapy for COVID-19 (NiprimunePlus™). He is an examiner at universities in Nigeria, Ghana and India. He was an adjunct lecturer at the University of Uyo for nine years, during which he developed the postgraduate curriculum for the Department of Pharm. and Pharm. Technology. He is currently a visiting professor at UniZik and FUT Minna, where he has graduated two PhD and two MSc students. He currently supervises postgraduate students in University of Western Cape, South Africa and De Montfort University, UK. Emeje was responsible for the license and technology transfer of Nigeria’s first indigenous phytomedicine for sickle cell (NICLOVIX®) to an indigenous pharmaceutical company. He was the National Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia and pioneered the first industry-academia partnership that led to a product launch. Emeje is a recipient of the prestigious Raman Fellowship; Melinda and Gates Fellowship; and American Cancer Society grant for the development of an Oral morphine solution, which led to a new morphine delivery adopted by the Federal Ministry of Health in 2017; WHO/ANDI grant for Co- formulation of NIPRISAN with antimalarial drugs, $11.6M foreign grant and the first nanomedicine center in Nigeria. His work on herbal formulation resulted in three major products NANIP™, NiprimunePlus™, and SAABMAL™ in the Nigerian market. His work in the application of nanotechnology in drug delivery won the WHO Innovation Award in 2011. Emeje is the current DG/CEO of NNMDA.
