Professor Simeon Olatayo Jekayinfa holds a B.Eng. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Ilorin, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Ibadan. He has been a Professor of Farm Power and Machinery at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Nigeria, since 2010, and also serves as a Professor Extraordinarius at the University of South Africa. Between 2006 and 2008, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy in Potsdam, Germany. His research focuses on renewable energy systems and energy optimization in agricultural production. His work has significantly advanced sustainable food and energy systems across sub-Saharan Africa and informed research funding decisions through his evaluation of proposals for leading institutions, including the International Food Policy Research Institute, Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research and South Africa’s National Research Foundation. He has published over 100 high-impact journal articles (h-index: 27), supervised numerous postgraduate students, and served as external examiner and assessor to over 20 universities. Over the course of his career, he has received more than 20 prestigious research, equipment, and travel grants from bodies such as the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), The World Academy of Science (TWAS), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy. He has held several academic leadership positions, including Head of Department, Director of Academic Planning, and Dean of Engineering at LAUTECH, Adeleke University and Ajayi Crowther University. Professor Jekayinfa is Editor-in-Chief of two peer-reviewed journals and Guest Editor with Energies. He is a COREN-registered engineer and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers and the African Scientific Institute. His professional excellence and scientific contributions have earned him recognition in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
